Kathryn Taylor (violin 1)
Lynette Rayner (violin 2)
Merewyn Bramble (viola)
Paul Zabrowarny (cello)

Quartz is a fresh and exciting ensemble on the Australian chamber music scene. It unites four highly acclaimed Melbourne musicians – Kathryn Taylor (first violin), Rachael Beesley (second violin), Merewyn Bramble (viola) and Zoe Wallace (cello).

These well-established and vibrant musicians give their programs an innovative edge and unique appeal by carefully combining classic string quartet repertoire alongside lesser known works, including collaborations with guest artists such as Caroline Almonte, Marshall McGuire, Nick Dinopolous and Sally-Anne Russell. In 2013 Quartz recorded for the Tall Poppies label and quickly enjoyed success on the concert stage, having performed regularly in the Melbourne Recital Centre’s ‘Local Heroes’ series since 2013.

Quartz has performed with the Australian Bach Society, in the Melba Hall lunch Hour series, the Lyrebird Music Society series, the St John’s East Malvern series, the Clunes Music Festival and in 2016 was part of the inaugural Albury Chamber Music Festival. Recently the quartet also had the privilege of performing at the Hush Foundation’s latest CD launch in Melbourne.

Quartz is very happy to be joined for today’s concert by guest musicians Lynette Rayner (violin 2) and Paul Zabrowarny (cello).
