Special Event – Music associated with Louise Dyer

The Lyrebird Music Society is pleased to announce that it will present a special concert as part of the University of Melbourne’s symposium on 18–19 May 2018, entitled: “Louise Dyer and Editions de l’Oiseau-Lyre: The Establishment of a Music Press”.

On Friday 18 May 2018, the Lyrebird Music Society will present a concert of celebrated Melbourne-based chamber musicians performing a selection of music associated with Louise Dyer, founder of the Lyrebird Music Society.

Dimity Shepherd mezzo soprano, and the Sutherland Trio, comprising Elizabeth Sellars violin Molly Kadarauch cello Caroline Almonte piano.

This concert will form part of a two day symposium covering the Couperin complete edition (12 vols.; marking the 350thcentenary of his birth) and other print publishing of the early years; the 78 rpm sound recordings; the press’s support in the 1930s of contemporary composers, especially French and Australian; and Louise Dyer and the visual arts.Keynote speaker Catherine Massip from Paris will deliver a public lecture. Concerts on Friday and Saturday evening complement the Symposium.
