Evergreen Ensemble
Dec 1st
Evergreen Ensemble is where folk and art music meet, bridging traditional with baroque music. Known for virtuosic programs bringing together the best of Australia's early music talent and folk icons, their concerts weave stories back through time, rediscovering the sounds of popular melodies from centuries ago performed today on period instruments.
'North Wind Doth Blow' explores the musical sound-worlds of the homelands of ancestors prior to migration to Australia. Drawing inspiration from the tips of a family tree that reach back to the eighteenth century, Evergreen will evoke wintery tunes and songs popular at that time; the sound-track to lives of forebears who were tenant farmers and labourers from the Isle of Man, Denmark’s island Fyn, Aberdeenshire in Scotland, East Prussia, sooty London and Ulster province in the north of Ireland.
